Proud Momma

Proud Momma

I’m so very proud of my son.  He’s worked hard.  I’m pulling this from my Instagram and giving a little more detail to his story.

My son’s university has a tradition in their library.  Each week they share white board art drawn by a variety of university art students.  Each masterpiece stays up for a week.  At the start of his Freshman year we got a good chuckle from the white board art in the library featuring Thor of the Avengers. I’ll share it below.

And now he’s finishing the year with the Avengers once again featured in the library white board art.

Whatever it Takes-The Avengers

This has been a huge growth year for this child. At one time diagnosed with ADHD, ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder) and then Aspergers (Autism), this kid has demonstrated a phenomenal drive to succeed-“whatever it takes”.

Whirlwind (my nickname for him) used to have meltdowns that would last upwards of 45 minutes. He’s worked with his counselor to be able to handle all kinds of stress.  He graduated last year with Highest Honors (and Distinguished Honor Roll), and a better than 4.0 GPA.  Whirlwind worked with our doctor and his counselor learned to focus without medication (he’s been medication-free for 3.5 years now). I couldn’t be more proud of this kid.

College away from home was a rough adjustment. The first month was particularly challenging , but he was determined to press onward—“Whatever it takes”. .

We think he’s finishing his freshman year with a B average, and I couldn’t be prouder. I just want my kids to do their best, and he has made me proud with how he gets up time and time again despite challenges. .

Because of your grit and perseverance Whirlwind, I know you’ll succeed “whatever it takes”. .
